The Times Higher Education (THE), a London based weekly magazine released the annual Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings of this year, and placed the Seoul National University in 26th in the world, up from 41st in previous year.

According to the THE, 2014 reputation rankings are based on the survey to the scholars all around the world. 10,536 academics from 133 countries have given their academic opinion on"the top 100 most powerful global university brands".

Within Asia, SNU was placed in 4th, up from 6th in 2013, ahead of University of Hong Kong and Tshinghua University.

SNU ranked 44th in 2013 the THE World University Rankings, and 35th in the QS World University Rankings.

The THE World University Ranking has been published since 2010, evaluating five criteria: Teaching (30%), Research (30%), Citations (30%), Industry income (2.5%), and International outlook (7.5%).
