With the arrival of May, SNU’s campus has now come into full bloom, covering the mountain in various shades of spring. Gwanak campus is justly famous for its lush foliage, which includes over 200 varieties of plants.

As I walked out of my last exam of my last semester at SNU, there were many things I knew for sure I would never do, or have to do ever again in my life.

New SNU Mobile App
The new MySNU app, designed to allow SNU students to more easily access the MySNU portal alongside other school services for a comprehensive one-stop experience, was recently launched on Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store for the iPhone.

SNU Encourages Students to Expand Academic Experience
SNU announced on April 28 that from the Fall 2017 semester, students will be able to take any classes that are not part of their major, double major, or minor on a pass/non-pass basis, otherwise known the S(Satisfactory) and U(Unsatisfactory) evaluation rather than the traditional A to F grading scale.

The Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning reported that Professor MIN Dal-Hee from the Department of Chemistry at SNU led a team of researchers to develop nanomaterial that aids the photosensitization process used in cancer treatment.

Professor Hwang Cheol Seong of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and his research team recently invented a type of cloth that is woven with RRAM (Resistive Random-Access Memory) technology.

Gene-Editing Breakthrough
Professor Kim Jin-Soo and training researcher Kim Daesik, both of the Department of Chemistry, were part of a research team at the Center for Genomic Engineering, within the Institute for Basic Science (IBS), that proved that a newly developed gene editing technique will be helpful in combatting genetic mutation that causes diseases such as cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, and color blindness.
