Hak Cheol Shin and Eun Kyeong Jung Selected as Distinguished SNU Members

Seoul National University (President Se-Jung Oh) selected Hak Cheol Shin, the vice chairman, CEO of LG Chem, and Eun Kyeong Jung, the commissioner of KDCA (Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency), as the 31st Distinguished SNU Members.

The vice chairman Hak Cheol Shin (Class of 1979, Department of Mechanical Engineering) contributed to increasing the global presence of Korean industries through the advancement of domestic chemical industry, the innovation of industrial paradigm and the research and development of green materials and green technology. The ESG management such as the declaration to reduce CO2 emission has especially contributed to establishing a sustainable society.

Commissioner Eun Kyeong Jung (Class of 1989, College of Medicine, PhD in Medicine in 2010) has strived to improve the standards of public health since 1995, when she started serving as a researcher in the Korea National Institute of Health. She has particularly contributed to securing the safety and health of the public by establishing the national public health emergency response system under the COVID-19 pandemic which broke out in 2020.

Seoul National University has selected the ones with virtue and character who contributed to the progress of the country and humanity as the ‘Distinguished SNU Members’ since 1991.
