The competition rates for the winter internships at the Advanced Institutes of Convergence Technology (AICT, http://aict.snu.ac.kr) have risen substantially over the past year.
According to AICT's announcement on Dec. 16, it accepted 42 students from among 221 applicants this year, making the competition rate 5.2:1. This is a much increased number compared to last year when AICT admitted 28 students from among 107 applicants, making the competition rate 3.8:1.
The most competitive programs were those related to mechatronics, robots, and electronic automobiles which had a competition rate of 1:12. Other areas with high competition rates were solar battery research and user software experience research.
AICT also said that among those 221 applicants, 112 were either attending colleges in, or living in, Gyeonggi-do, where AICT is located.
After Professor AHN Cheol Soo, the dean of SNU’s Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology (GSCST), resigned from the position of head of AICT in October, Professor YOON Euijoon of SNU’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering assumed the position.
