‘Global Multi-Culture Scholarship’ for Future Global Leaders
Woongjin Foundation and Woongjin Coway have agreed with SNU to contribute an endowment for the ‘SNU-Woongjin Global Multi-culture Scholarship’, with a goal to lure talented students from Asian countries and to foster international relations.
The ceremony was held in the president’s office on Jan 26, 2010, with SNU president LEE Jang-moo, chairman SHIN Hyun-woong of Woongjin Foundation, and CEO HONG Joon-ki in presence.
For next five years, one hundred million won each year will be given as scholarships to exchange students visiting from renowned colleges throughout Asia.
Talented students from developing countries in Asia wishing to study at SNU will be the main beneficiaries of ‘SNU-Woongjin Global Multi-culture Scholarship.’ And the fund is expected to provide prospective global leaders with ‘SNU experience’ and lay a bridge between visitors and residents of SNU to foster multicultural exchanges.
Besides ‘Woongjin Global Multi-culture Scholarship’, SNU grants various financial aids to talented foreign students such as ‘Silk Road Scholarship’ and ‘Glo-Harmony Scholarship’ whose beneficiaries are students from developing countries adjacent to the Silk Road and students from OECD/DAC recipient countries, respectively.
