All students at Seoul National University’s College of Education have had the chance to study in Europe since February this year, and now the college is seeking to sign more partnerships with other schools.

Twelve international educators - middle and high school principals, education ministry officials and school inspectors - from Germany, Denmark, Britain, France, Norway, Italy, Finland and Ireland will convene at Seoul National University from Oct. 26 to 30 to sign student exchange partnerships.

During the five-day-long international conference on study programs in the EU they will also map out ways to boost student exchange programs and share their country’s own unique systems for educating student teachers.

The twelve international professionals will tour SNU Primary School, Seoul Global High School and Seoul Science High School.

“The goal of the program is to help students learn about EU current affairs, visit related European government and educational institutions and experience European culture,” said Park Chan-goo, Associate Dean of College of Education.

"This program gives every student an opportunity to stay at least one week in Europe, which will encourage students to better teach the importance of regional integration.", he said,

“With the additional partnerships with other institutions and schools, the university will be able to send over 120 students for February 2010,” Park said.

In February 2008, 53 students benefitted from the program with 18 students heading to France and Belgium, 13 to Spain and Italy, 10 to Ireland and Britain, and 12 to Germany and Austria. There are over 800 students enrolled in different departments in SNU’s College of Education and the school intends to offer all of them a trip to Europe.
