Professor KIM Ki-bum has developed a"nanopore ion transistor" which can be used for interpreting DNA sequencing results and controling biomolecules.
He succeeded to create a new ion transistor with 1~2 nanometer of nanopores. He used electron beam lithograhpy and atomic layer deposition for a sturcture of 100 nm membranes.
This development will make it possible to mass-produce an ion transistor that can selectively control ion currents through nanopores.
The research was published on journal Nano Letters and highlighted by Nature Asian Materials.
