SNU launched a new scholarship program named 'The Silk Road Scholarship' for prospective foreign students who want to study humanities or social sciences.
The program aims at attracting outstanding students from Middle and Southeast Asia. SNU expects that it will promote lively academic interchanges between eastern and western Asias.
Five graduate students will be recruited every year from Russia, India, Mongolia etc. They will receive 2 years of tuition wave, monthly living expenses and Korean language education support.
The application for Silk Road Scholarship is open during the International Admissions every fall semester.
This program is sponsored by SBS, the third largest broadcasting company in Korea.
Silk Road Scholarship
- Eligibility: Students whose nationality is as followings
Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Nepal, Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Yemen, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Ethiopia, Hungary, Russia
- Field: Humanities or Social Sciences including Korean, History, Culture, Politics, Economics
- Number of Scholarship Recipients: 5 students per year
- Application Period: Every Fall semester, International Admissions
- Funding: Tuition waved for 2 academic years, Living expenses KRW 600,000 per month, Round-trip airfare up to KRW 1,000,000, Korean language training expenses for 2 terms
