Urgent Repair Needed? No Problem!

Where may the busiest place be in Seoul National University? Without much doubt, it has to be the ‘Quick Repair Center’. It deals with facility problems, living in a whirl of urgent calls from every nook and corner of the campus.

Upon receiving a complaint call, the Quick Repair Center wastes no time to be on the spot. The serviceman in charge is to report back when beginning service and once more when done. To get a glimpse of how it works, follow through an afternoon at the Repair Center.

2:50PM
Among the rush of calls, one is from the Department of Humanities. A leak in a steam pipe in the central hallway, first floor of Building 3, has been reported. The call receptionist quickly swaps between lines to dispatch an engineer. He arrives at the scene in seven minutes and starts fixing the pipe. At 4PM sharp he reports back to have completed the job.

2:55PM
A student from the College of Fine Arts is on the line demanding exchange of a fluorescent lamp in Room 302 Building 52. The receptionist connects to the Electric Facilities Office and checks whether service is available straight away. She calls the student back with a relieving message that a serviceperson will be there by 3:10PM.

3:30PM
The phones just never end ringing. This time, it is an SOS from the Central University Library. The door to the fifth reading room, fifth floor of Building 62, will not budge. As soon as the receptionist puts the receiver back down, starts off the serviceman. Seven minutes later, the Quick Repair Center is informed that the repairing has begun and in a short moment at 4:18PM that the door is working fine.

The Quick Repair Center, not yet a year old, has dealt with 9000 complaints since commencement. It is equal to more than 30 services per day. What is more surprising is that 95% of them have been completed on the day of report. Moreover, the center returns a ‘Happy Call’ in a couple of days to users to check on the level of satisfaction.
In need of an urgent fixing service all around the campus, just call the Quick Repair Center at 880-2000.
