Advanced Institute of Convergence Technology, a 150 million dollar research center for the advancement of high-tech industry, opened in Gwanggyo Techno-Valley in Suwon. Seoul National University will manage and operate the institute funded by Gyeonggi-do.
The research center will consist of 9 research institute that will conduct integrated research and education, on areas such as Nano-technology, Convergence Bioscience, Nest-generation Automobile, Intelligence Robot, Software Digital media, Environmental Energy Source, IT, Construction & Transportation and Integrated Academic Areas.
SNU Graduate School of Business will open an MBA course in the research center at the end of the year. The center will also install a Graduate School of Convergence Science next year, producing a vast number of businessmen with substantial knowledge of natural sciences and engineering. The center is considering establishing a Department of Contract to provide industries with the legalistic workers they require. The center is promoting a law education program partnered with the SNU Law School as well.
The center will also invite distinguished scholars such as the futurist Jacques Attali for an international conference that will be held in the honor of the opening of the center, from May 20th until May 22nd.
