GLP-OSS Program, the Dream of Global Engineers
The College of Engineering has established the ‘Global Leadership Program-Overseas Student Scholarship (GLP-OSS)’, funded by its alumni association’s ‘Vision 2010’, to send engineering students to other Asian universities that have signed agreements on student exchanges with SNU. The aim of the program, as arranged by the College of Engineering, is to foster global leaders with international perspectives.
During the spring semester of 2007, this program sent 5 students each to the University of Tokyo and Tsinghua University. The students selected last April, the second beneficiaries of the program, are currently spending their fall semester at Osaka University in Japan, Tsinghua University in China, and National Taiwan University. GLP-OSS is especially meaningful in that it enables SNU College of Engineering students to actually experience how students with the same major as theirs are studying and living on the campuses of other Asian universities. The Office of International Cooperation at the College of Engineering is carrying on negotiations to provide opportunities for the students to study in more foreign universities, and is planning to increase the number of exchange students annually.
