‘Global Talent Program’ for Overseas Job Opportunities and Internships
The Career Development Center is currently promoting the ‘Global Talent Program (GTP)’, which was launched in spring semester of 2007. GTP, the first SNU program ever with the objective of promoting overseas job opportunities for SNU students, is designed to facilitate students’ overseas employment by providing interview opportunities for employment and internships.
Last August, about 10 students, selected from a fiercely competitive pool of 70 applicants, visited international financial firms located in Hong Kong such as Morgan Stanley, ING, Societe Generale, Bloomberg, and Standard Chartered Bank.
The next program, ‘Singapore Internships’, will aim to offer winter internships in 2007 or summer internships in 2008. It will consist of various activities in which students can assess their international competitiveness. Important information on overseas internships/employment will be given, interviews arranged with human resources officials while visiting global firms in Singapore, meetings set up with alumni working in Singapore, and workshops supporting internships offered.
GTP has thus far sent 30 students in total to 11 countries: 10 students to the UN and other governmental organizations, 8 to financial sectors, 7 into the field of engineering, 2 into the legal sector, 2 into the field of consulting, and 1 into the field of trade. The Career Development Center is also working on developing new programs in order to further expand GTP in the future. To do so, it is not only expanding the target regions to Europe and elsewhere based on the network developed in North America and Asia, but also diversifying the industrial sectors through actively contacting foreign corporations.
