An annual forum of four representative East Asian universities, the BESETOHA 8th, opened in Hanoi on Nov. 3.
The BESETOHA takes its name from the names of the four universities - the Beijing University, the Seoul National University, the University of Tokyo, and the Ha Noi National University.
Addressing the forum, Vice State President Truong My Hoa said the attendance of the Ha Noi National University at the forum reflects the recognition of Vietnam's tertiary education by leading tertiary educational establishments in East Asia.
The presidents of the four participating universities delivered scientific reports on the forum's theme of"Cultural diversification and sustainable development - the role of tertiary education".
The forum agreed that East Asia boasts a time-honoured culture with many values which can benefit the development of tertiary education in the context of globalisation and international integration.
The four presidents signed a Hanoi declaration at the forum.
