Producing Winners of the American Association for Cancer Research's"Scholar-in-Training Grant" for Seven Years Running The SNU College of Pharmacy's"Electronic and Molecular Carcinogenesis Research Cancer"
An SNU research center has succeeded in producing winners for the"Scholar-in-Training Grant" given by the American Association for Cancer Research(AACR), the largest cancer association in America, for seven years straight.
The recipients of this prestigious grant are the four members of the"Nationally Appointed Electronic and Molecular Carcinogenesis Research Cancer", headed by Professor Surh Young Joon, who will each being receiving this grant in Washington on April 1-5 at the AACR's annual meeting.
More than 20,000 cancer research scholars participate in this annual meeting, which has a history of approximately 100 years, and over 9,000 theses are presented each year. This is the first time in the history of this meeting that a winner of the Scholar-in-Training Grant has been selected from the same research center for seven consecutive years.
On top of this, following Dr. Chun Kyung Soo who became the first person to win this grant five years in a row, Dr. Nah Hye Kyung(38, female) will win it in 2006 for the second straight time. Especially, international student Joidep Kundu(37), who is from Bangladesh, was the first international student to receive this grant last year and will receive it this year for the second time.
