The first week of the academic semester is always charged with an atmosphere of great anticipation. It was no exception for Seoul National University as they began the first week of the Spring 2024 semester, and the school campus was awash with great activity. Freshmen and returning students alike came to campus with high hopes of spending an exciting and vibrant university year with their fellow students. All around campus, facilities brimmed with students who were either eagerly chatting with their friends or already hard at work on their class assignments.
From March 4 to 6, each day from 10am to 6pm, the 39th Student Club Association Promise hosted the Club Introduction Festival. Various clubs and student organizations of Seoul National University gathered at the Grass Square and set up booths to promote their respective student societies. Near the main entrance of the festival, the Student Club Association’s booth distributed a stamp collection form on a first-come-first-served basis to students who came to explore the sights. Upon receiving the form, students could then collect stamps by participating in mini-games and compete for the chance to win food items, gift certificates, Bluetooth earphones, and more. Many of the clubs and societies participating in the festival also gave out small trinkets and gifts to students in hopes of enticing new members to join. A diverse array of clubs took part in the event, including musical bands, choir, orchestra, cheerleading, dance, photography, travel, sports, religious student associations, volunteering associations, and more.
On the second and third day of the festival, members of SNU music and dance clubs had the opportunity to show off their musical talents to the student body and entice any prospective members. The Square was filled with the sound of heartfelt musical arrangements and delightful performances as onlookers admired the talent of the passionate performers.
On March 7th, the SNU Communication Team organized a lovely giveaway event in front of the University Cultural Center. Starting from noon, students could receive various souvenirs with the official SNU Instagram character drawn on them once they showed that they followed all of the official social media accounts for Seoul National University. These novelty items were limited to the first thousand students who came to collect them and were all distributed in a short span of two hours. Happy faces and cheery voices abounded the lawn as the students expressed great joy upon receiving such charming gifts to incentivize the start of another year. With the official SNU Instagram account (@snu.official) having promised additional surprise events to come, students should be on the lookout in the future.
The spring semester of SNU is always filled with diverse festivals and events that are constantly updated on the SNU social media channels so stay tuned for updates.
