From August 26 to 30, SNU hosted the International Conference on Advances in Production Management Systems (APMS) 2018 at the Gwanak Campus Global Convention Plaza. The conference was held with the support of the Institute for Industrial Systems Innovation at SNU, the SNU College of Engineering, Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers (KIIE), Korea Housing & Land Corporation (LH), the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST) and the Korea Tourism Organization.
The objectives of the APMS conference are to share research among leading experts from academia and industry and provide guidelines to pave the way for future manufacturing systems. This year’s theme was “Smart Production Management for Data-driven, Intelligent, Collaborative, and Sustainable Manufacturing.” 198 leading experts from academia and industry participated in the conference, representing 27 countries, including Germany, Norway, Denmark and Japan. Discussions were held on how to integrate emerging smart technologies, such as the Internet, Big Data, Smart City, and virtual reality, into manufacturing and service industries. A doctoral workshop, keynote speeches, and an industry tour were also included in the conference program. This year’s keynote lectures were given by Sang Woo Park, CEO and President of the Korea Land & Housing Corporation and SNU Professor Sungzoon Cho (Department of Industrial Engineering).
SNU Professor Moon Ilkyung (Department of Industrial Engineering), chaired of the conference, said that the forum is a valuable international meeting to discuss the academic development and realization of future manufacturing systems. “Together, our efforts have and will continue to bring change and innovation to medical, service and IT fields.”
