According to the education periodical Veritas Alpha, Seoul National University ranked of the top 17 schools in South Korea in 2016 endowment. The school received a total of 58,947,500,000 won (over 52 million USD). The amount includes donations from individuals, companies, and organizations. There appears to be a correlation between the tier-level reputation of the school and the annual endowment, as the SKY universities (SNU, Korea, and Yonsei) have always ranked 1-3 in past years in terms of endowment.
In 2016, Korea University ranked second with 41,546,600,000 won (over 36.7 million USD) and Yonsei University was third with 32,869,170,000 won (over 29 million USD). The donations received contributed to 2-4% of the schools’ total income. The average endowment of the top 17 schools in South Korea is 17,042,823,823 won (over 15 million USD).
