A transparent LED (light emitting diode) film, invented by a team of SNU engineering students was chosen top prize in the Capstone Design project. Capstone Design is the term used to describe a creative, comprehensive course design that covers the entire process of project invention, from the initial stages of product development through the entire production process.

On November 10, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced their plans to award the 22 teams including SNU’s team at the 2016 engineering education festival ‘E2 FESTA’ held at the Ilsan Korea International Exhibition & Convention Center (KINTEX).

SNU’s team ‘Axis Light’ received the top Prime Minister Award. They created an LED film that uses transparent electrodes and miniscule silver nanoparticle wires as its main material. This allows for its flexibility and lightness, and was deemed to drastically improve its durability.

JUNG Man Gi, Vice Minister of the Department of Commerce & Industry, expressed the urgent need for creative and passionate engineers with a thirst for challenge.
