SNU Holds Career Fair

2016 Career Fair held on September 6 and 7

From September 6 to 7, SNU Career Development Center and SNU Alumni Association held the 13th annual Career Fair at the Student Lawn area in front of the Administration Building. As the largest recruiting event at SNU, the Career Fair invites various corporations and enterprises who provide students with employment-related information and the latest recruiting trends.

This year, human resource managers from more than 130 organizations participated in the fair and communicated to potential employees. The list of participating companies comprised of major Korean corporations such as Hyundai and Samsung, public corporations such as KORAIL, multinational corporations such as Continental Automotive Group, and governmental organizations such as the International Organizations Recruitment Center from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition to employment information given by each of the companies, the fair opened counseling booths for Korean students seeking jobs outside the country, for international students seeking jobs in Korea, and for students interested in building their own venture business. Especially for students applying for job positions during the current recruitment season, the SNU Career Development Center also operated a number of booths with useful services including free identification photo sessions and job interview counseling.

Students visiting the fair had diverse objectives. Seniors and recent graduates applying to the invited companies this season came with specific questions regarding their resumes, while freshmen and sophomores came to get a general idea of what to prepare for job searching they will experience in the near future. Since career fairs give job applicants a rare opportunity to talk to recruiters in person, even students from other universities came to the fair in order to acquire information that would otherwise be difficult to find. Along with answers to the students’ questions, most companies presented visitors with branded souvenirs.

Although the Career Fair is held only once a year in September, many companies visit the SNU campus separately during the beginning of each recruiting season to give their own information sessions. Students may find the schedule for upcoming visits at Career Development Center’s website (http://career.snu.ac.kr/).
