One in four CEOs in Korea’s pharmaceutical companies are Seoul National University graduates, reported News 1.
They traced educational background of 56 listed pharmaceutical companies in Korea, and found 20 out of 83 CEOs are SNU graduates. SNU graduates take 24%, and followed by Sungkyunkwan University (9.6%), Yonsei University (9.6%), Korea University (8.4%), and Chung-Ang University (8.4%).
SNU alumni CEO in major companies include President LEE Kwan Soon of Hanmi Pharmaceutical, President HUH Il Sub of Green Cross, President YOON Jae Seung of Daewoong Pharmaceutical, and President PARK Chan Il of Dong A Pharmaceutical.
According to BMI Healthcare, an independent research group, Korea’s pharmaceutical industry is the fastest growing among the developed countries.
Every year, SNU accepts roughly 60 to 80 students in the College of Pharmacy. Although small in number, the students in this college are educated and equipped with the skills set needed to not only find jobs in the industry but also to succeed.
