SNU President OH Yeon-cheon and Dean of the Office of International Affairs Kim JunKi visited Europe to promote collaboration with three institutions: Imperial College London (ICL), University College London (UCL), and School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).

SNU first signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICL. The aim of the MoU is to promote the exchange of faculty and student research through joint postdoc programs, internships and other projects.

Afterwards, SNU signed an MoU with UCL. With the MoU as a foundation, the schools will promote cultural exchange and begin to exchange three students every year.

At SOAS, SNU and SOAS discussed their aim to build a collaborative partnership through student exchange.

Founded in 1907, ICL is a science-based institution that currently has 14 Nobel laureates and is ranked 6th in the 2012 QS World University Rankings. UCL, which was founded in 1826, has a 200 year long tradition and was the first university in the United Kingdom to accept students on a secular basis, regardless of the students’ religious affiliation or sex. UCL has a student-community of about 23,000 and has been ranked 3rd in the 2012 QS World University Rankings. SOAS is a higher education institution specializing in the social sciences in the areas of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East.

SNU currently has exchange agreements with 246 institutions across 50 countries, and will continue to expand its network so as to provide high quality education and research opportunities for all its students.
