On May 2, SNU Graduate School of Business officially announced that it will manage a dual degree program with Yale SOM beginning this fall semester. This year's application deadline was May 10. In August, those who have been selected will enroll in the Yale SOM Master of Management (MAM) program for 9 months. The participants who have completed the regular curriculum for a year at SNU GSB and 9 months at Yale shall receive MBA degrees from both SNU and Yale. A staff person from SNU GSB said,"Judging from
the number of applications we received for this program, it seems that lots of students are interested in this program." Next year, SNU students interested in participating in the program will have to go through the recruitment process that starts in March.Admission to the Yale program is available to students who are enrolled in Global Network for Advanced Management member schools. This network was established by Yale to foster substantive ties among the world's leading business schools, such as Fudan University School of Management (China), Renmin University of China School of Business (China), and the London School of Economics and Political Science, Department of Management (United Kingdom). SNU is the only Korean university among the Network's members.
The Yale program makes it possible for SNU students to form close ties with Yale students, faculty and professionals from corporate and enterprise partners. SNU students will also have access to Yale School of Management’s networks and resources, such as the school's Career Development Office, which provides resources and assistance to Yale alumni who are seeking new employment opportunities."The Master of Management program may be an opportunity to find a job in the US", a staff person from SNU Graduate School of Business said.
The dual degree program with Yale will enable SNU students to exchange ideas with students from all over the world, expand their understanding of the complexities of the contemporary global market economy and shape themselves into future leaders. Professor CHU Wu Jin, dean of the Graduate School of Business, expressed his high expectations."This partnership with Yale is an opportunity for SNU to transcend regional boundaries and enter the arena of world class competition," he said. Professor Novemsky,
a professor at Yale who was invited to teach the course 'Consumer Behavior' at SNU GSB this semester, also viewed the new program positively."I have been giving lectures at GSB for several years and the students here are very talented," he said."Their strong points are various kinds of hands-on experiences and a thirst for knowledge.
