Cinema throughout SNU Campus

Walking through the SNU campus on any given day, it is possible to come across various cultural events. In some cases, it is likely that you might even have just passed by, completely unaware of what exactly was going on. This could easily happen when it comes to the many periodic movie screenings on campus. The following is a list of such movie screenings at SNU that you can enjoy for free.

SNU Museum has been running the 'Movies at the Museum' program since 2003. The program is held every semester as a weekly program for four to five weeks, dedicated to a single topic for the semester. The topic for the 2012 spring semester is 'Portrayals of Painters', featuring Girl with a Pearl Earring, Goya's Ghost, Klimt, Little Ashes, and Basquiat. The screenings will be held on the first floor of the SNU Museum (Bldg. No. 70) at 2 P.M. every Thursday until April 26.

The SNU Dormitory Student Council runs the Gwanaksa Movie Festival, holding movie screenings every last Thursday of the month in Gaon Hall (Bldg. No. 900, first basement floor). The movie of the month is selected through a poll of the dormitory students on the options initially chosen by the council.

Cinecom, the SNU movie club established in 2003, holds movie festivals 3-4 times a year at its theater, Room 401 of Dure Cultural Center (Bldg. No. 67). The topic of the festival is mainly chosen by two means: one is 'Friends of Cinecom', featuring favorite movies of the club members, and the other is a movie exhibition dedicated to a single director's films. Cinecom held its last movie exhibition dedicated to Martin Scorsese last month, celebrating the release of his new film Hugo. Cinecom film festivals are not held on a regular basis, so do not pass by their posters around the campus or you will miss the festival!
