2008 Scholarship Opportunity for International Students sponsored by The Korea Scholarship Foundation for Future Leaders

The Korea Scholarship Foundation for Future Leaders (KOSFFL) is providing a scholarship opportunity for international students. Please continue below for more information.

1. Eligibility: International students who are studying abroad from Asian, Latin American, or African countries with the fulfillment of following requirements

- Students who are currently registered for graduate programs in Korea and have completed at least one semester as of March 2008. Students on language study or research activities are not eligible.

- Must have a GPA of 3.3/4.3 (3.5/4.5) or above

- Must be fluent in Korean (Interview will be held in Korean)

- Students who are not receiving scholarships from any other institutions

(If you are receiving a partial scholarship from others, you will be granted only the remainder portion from KOSFFL)

 

2. Application Procedure:

- Review of submitted documents

- Interview (Only for those who pass the review of documents)

 

3. Availability: Approximately 5 students

 

4. Scholarship Amount: Full tuition (including the school supporting association fee)                               + Education maintenance allowance (1,000,000 won/ per semester)

 

5. Grant Period: Scholarship will be granted for a maximum of 4 semesters until completion of your study. However, the grant may be discontinued if the following criteria are not satisfied at any point.

 

- The minimum GPA (3.5/4.5 or 3.3/4.3) required by KOSFFL is not met

- Student is subjected to disciplinary actions by school regulations

- Student takes a leave of absence from school (grant will be re-awarded when student reregisters)

- Student withdraws from program or transfers to another school

- Student has submitted forged documents

 

6. Required Documents (all required documents should be written in Korean)

             a. Application form (specific format)

                The application form can be downloaded from KOSFFL website

                (under the 장학정보 menu or 재단서식 다운로드)

             b. Certification of nationality (ex. copy of passport)

             c. Official academic transcripts (of all completed-semesters)

             d. Recommendation letters from advisors

(should be written by advising professor him/herself and be sealed in envelopes)

             e. Essay (topic given by KOSFFL)

Essay topic: If you perceive any societal problems in Korea, point out what the most serious problem is. Explain why you think it is the problem and what a possible solution can be.

(Limit to 2 sheets of A4 sized paper)

             f. Self-introduction (Limit to 2 sheets of A4 sized paper)

             g. Description of future study plan and application of study (Limit to 2 sheets of A4 sized paper)

Please note that we require 4 copies of your documents to be submitted (one original and three photocopies), except for b (certification of nationality) and c (official academic transcripts), of which we only require one.

 

7. Application Due: Feb.1, 2008 (valid only if received by this date)
