Conference: Art and Aesthetics from an Anthropological Perspective: Focus on Dance Aesthetics

The 118th monthly conference of the SNU Institute of Cultural Studies will be held on Monday, May 19th 2008. In this session, Dr. Adrienne Kaeppler, the Curator of Oceanic Ethnology at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D,C,, will be presenting. All interested are welcome to participate.

BIOGRAPHY

Adrienne L. Kaeppler is Curator of Oceanic Ethnology at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D. C. She attended the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee and received her BA, MA, and Ph.D. in Anthropology at the University of Hawaii . She has carried out field research in, Hawai`i and other parts of the Pacific and has published numerous books and articles on her research, which focuses on the interrelationships between social structure and the arts, especially dance, music, and the visual arts. Dr. Kaeppler is President of the International Council for Traditional Music and President of World Dance Alliance.
