2009 Joint Gerontology Conference

Seoul National University's Translational Gerontology and Retirement Research Center and Institute on Aging, together with Tokyo University and Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), will be holding an international conference. 40 promising researchers from 19 Asian and Pacific Rim countries will share their research results, develop new theories and research models through team proposals, and receive an opportunity to create research networks We look forward to your participation.

Topic: Challenges and Opportunities of Aging Asia: Toward the New Social System
            and Culture for Aging Society

*During the conference, an open symposium is to be held on Tuesday, October 20th, from 10 AM to 12:30 PM, at the SNU Hoam Faculty House Convention Center. There are three lectures prepared from renowned gerontologists for this session:
1. Family Care of Older People: From Basic Research to Interventions Dr. Steven H. Zarit (Professor
  and Head, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, Pennsylvania State University,
  USA )
2. Is Family Support for Older Asians Declining?: Recent evidence from Asian contexts and policy
   implications Dr. Angelique Wei-ming Chan (Professor, Department of Sociology, National University
   of Singapore, Singapore)
3. Challenges of the Aging Communities: Field experiments in urban and local towns in Japan
   Dr. Hiroko Akiyama (Professor, Institute of Gerontology, The University of Tokyo, Japan)
