Additional Recruiting for FLY Program

‘FLY (Friends Love You) Project’ is a program that provides foreign students of SNU with opportunities to share their languages and cultures with the local community members around the campus. Participants are going to teach their own languages and cultures to the elementary school students after school. The participants will receive a certain amount of payment for the classes, but part of the payment will be used for supporting other foreign students who have economic difficulties and for funding exchange activities for Korean & Foreign students. Anyone who is strongly interested in sharing their culture, volunteer work, and giving a contribution to the local community is welcome to join us!

 

Participating local community: 

Bongcheon Elementary School, 15 minutes from SNU by bus

 

Status

The program had already begun since two weeks before, and the participants have been teaching 2 Chinese classes and 2 culture classes. More than 200 elementary school students applied for this program, and we need more teachers.

 

Program details:

     ○ Period: October ~ December, 2007

     Working hours (2 classes): Every Fridays,

13:30 ~ 14:20 (50min) - Language class

14:30 ~ 15:20 (50min) - Culture class

 

     ○ Class details:

   (1) Language classes - Teach Chinese, Japanese etc.

   (2) Culture class -Customs, traditional food, games, songs etc.

 

Number of students per class: 10 ~ 15

 

Qualification

- Foreign students of SNU (regardless of nationality, gender, age, major etc.)

- Applicants should be able to communicate in Korean
