[International Workshop Announcement] Frontiers of Democratic Innovations

Greetings from the Institute for Korean Political Studies (IKPS) at Seoul National University.

We are pleased to announce that the Institute for Korean Political Studies, in collaboration with the 10-10 Project Group of the Department of Political Science and International Relations and the Center for Social Innovation Education, and Research, College of Social Sciences, will host an international workshop titled “Frontiers of Democratic Innovations.”

This workshop invites leading international scholars in the field of democratic innovations to share and discuss both theoretical frameworks and empirical cases from around the world. We warmly invite all those interested in democratic theory and practice to attend and engage in this meaningful dialogue.

    • Theresa Reidy (University College Cork): “Integrating deliberative and direct democracy: A mixed experience in Ireland”

    • Victor Sanchez-Mazas (University of Geneva): “Citizens’ assemblies in a semi-direct democracy: Innovating democracy in Switzerland”

    • Mikko Värttö (Tampere University): “From Ideals to Institutions: Issues in Institutionalising the Values of Democratic Deliberation”

    • Julien Vrydagh (Hasselt University): “Democratic innovations and Democratic Theory: Beyond a Model-Based Approach”
