Abstract:
Can one simply "do visual anthropology" by learning film and anthropology? In this presentation, the speaker—trained in both documentary filmmaking and anthropology—reflects on her experiences teaching a visual anthropology course. Through this, she explores the possibilities of practicing visual anthropology and how the medium of film can intersect with the predominantly text-based tradition of anthropology.
