Health crises are not limited to infectious disease outbreaks such as COVID-19. In response to increasing global and domestic uncertainties, our BK21 research group is organizing this seminar to highlight the need for public health to play a greater role in promoting population mental health and preparing for future mental health crises.
The first session will present findings from our recent survey titled “Mental Health Promotion and Crisis Preparedness: A Public Perception Study”. We will also invite early-career scholars in public health to discuss how these findings can be academically applied, and to explore the role of public health in advancing mental well-being and protection.
In the second session, experts from policy, research, and clinical practice will join us to address key challenges in suicide prevention, trauma response, and psychological counseling. The discussion will identify the barriers we face and consider essential efforts needed to overcome them.
We hope this seminar will serve as a platform for active exchange among researchers and practitioners and reaffirm the contributions public health can make to the mental health field. Your interest and participation will be greatly appreciated.
