"Cracks in Glass": Reconstructing Space with Reproduced Matter
Seoul National University Central Library, in collaboration with the College of Fine Arts, presents the two-person exhibition "Cracks in Glass" featuring emerging artists Yechan Kim (BFA in Oriental Painting, Class of 2021) and Hyungjun Choi (BFA in Oriental Painting, Class of 2019).
Drawing from their experiences at the Rodin Museum in Paris, the artists explore the interplay between the sensory perception of reality and digital reconstruction, investigating the “gap” that forms between representation and reality.
Yechan Kim revives sensory impressions of physical spaces through colored painting,
Hyungjun Choi translates the forms of sculptures in virtual reality into lines and three-dimensional structures.
Their works create a subtle sense of distance and interpretative space—much like the delicate fissures in glass, allowing room for artistic interpretation between the artwork and its audience.
Visit Kwanjeong Gallery to experience the spatial "gaps" these artists have crafted, and immerse yourself in the shifting colors and forms along the boundary of representation.
