The Institute of Social Sciences in SNU conducts in-depth research on various methodologies and hosts methodology forums to facilitate interdisciplinary exchange. The third methodology forum of the 2025 spring semester at the Institute for Social Sciences will be held as follows, and we encourage your participation.
<Quantification and Understanding of Cognitive Brain Function through Computational Predictive Modeling>
This presentation introduces a computational approach using data-driven predictive modeling to quantify and forecast cognitive brain functions. By analyzing brain imaging data, it aims to numerically characterize the brain’s functional properties as a complex network. Based on this analysis, the presentation will explore methods to predict higher cognitive functions such as attention, memory, and intelligence. Furthermore, it will discuss efforts to predict functional characteristics from structural features of the brain, ultimately quantifying individual cognitive function levels. This suggests the possibility of predicting functional traits based on the structural framework of network systems.
