The Institute for Social Sciences conducts in-depth research on various methodologies and hosts methodology forums to foster interdisciplinary exchange.
This semester's 2nd Methodology Forum of the Institute for Social Sciences will be held as follows, and we encourage your active participation.
< Introduction to Social Science Research Using Embedding Vectors >
With the recent emergence of various language models, including word embedding models, research incorporating these technologies has become increasingly prominent in the social sciences. These AI models analyze large-scale web data and represent words, sentences, and images in multidimensional vector spaces based on semantic relationships. Furthermore, they model the associations between concepts using vector computations, probabilistically resolving user queries and problems. By analyzing vector spaces, researchers can better understand the interactions and structures of widely accepted concepts in society—akin to mapping the structure or landscape of societal understanding. This lecture will introduce AI-based language models, particularly embedding techniques, and explore how they can be leveraged to analyze structural relationships in social, economic, and political concepts, with relevant case studies.
