"Healthcare Innovation Powered by Advanced Generative AI"

With terms like ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and AI semiconductors dominating headlines, artificial intelligence has become more than just a technology—it now serves as core infrastructure determining national competitiveness and technological sovereignty.

As countries around the world engage in fierce competition for AI leadership, the medical and bio industries, which demand complex technical capabilities and high specialization, have emerged as key areas for AI application. The example of AlphaFold, linked to the Nobel Prize, demonstrated AI’s potential to solve grand challenges in life sciences. NVIDIA’s specialized AI platform for healthcare further emphasizes the importance of this field in the global AI landscape.

This lecture explores the technological innovations made possible by generative AI in the healthcare and biotechnology sectors. It will provide insight into the enabling technologies, supporting infrastructure, and the current commercialization trends. Additionally, the talk will address how digital healthcare is becoming a national strategic industry through AI and discuss the strategic directions we must take to prepare for this shift.

Professor Kyungsu Kim is an assistant professor at the School of Transdisciplinary Innovations and an affiliated professor at the College of Medicine at Seoul National University. He leads active research focused on the development of foundational generative AI technologies for digital healthcare.
