The selection plan for the Fall Semester 2025 Interdisciplinary Major in Artificial Intelligence (2025. 3. 31.(Mon.) 09:00 ~ 4. 4.(Fri.) 18:00)

The selection plan for the Fall Semester 2025 Interdisciplinary Major in Artificial Intelligence is as follows.

The expected number of students for the Artificial Intelligence Interdisciplinary Major is around 50 students per semester, with an annual limit of 100 students.

 

A.    Eligibility requirements

-Students must have completed at least two regular semesters and earned a minimum of 33 credits, including those planning to return from leave.

*Liberal Studies students need to have completed at least two regular semesters since admission and earned a minimum of 24 credits, and they must not have chosen Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering as their primary major.

-A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 (B-) or above is required.

-Applicants must also complete specified prerequisite courses.

: These include one computing basics course (including programming practice; courses graded A-F are recommended) and one to two basic mathematics courses.

 

  Only students planning to return from leave in Fall 2025 are eligible to apply.

  Courses not listed in the prerequisite table may still be accepted.

  The review committee for the AI interdisciplinary major will determine the eligibility of relevant courses.

  Students majoring in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering are not eligible to apply for this program.

B.     Applications must be submitted via the Google Form (link provided).

Afterward, applicants must visit the SNU portal (mysnu.ac.kr) > Academic Affairs/Administration > Academic Records Change > Application > Major/Program Application to apply directly and then submit "additional documents" via email to the AI interdisciplinary major administrative office at sjh93@snu.ac.kr.

 

C.     Application period is from March 31, 2025 (Monday), 9:00 AM to April 4, 2025 (Friday), 6:00 PM (KST).

-The academic status of selected students will be reflected on July 18, 2025 (Friday).

 

D.    Applicants must submit additional documents after applying for the interdisciplinary major via the mySNU portal. (refer to attachment 1,2)

     Certificate Issuance (mandatory) -download and scan from mySNU (Academic Info > Certificate > Online Certificate Issuance).

-       Only courses listed in the issuance will be evaluated.

     A prerequisite course approval form or completion records (mandatory)

-Applicants should submit a form listing the prerequisite courses completed along with course details.

-If you have completed courses listed in the "Prerequisite Courses Table and Announcement [April 2022 Pre-requisite Course Recognition Guide]," please provide the course details of the completed courses and send them via email. (No specific form is required.)

-If the course is not listed in the prerequisites table, the course syllabus or summary must be included.

** If there’s no syllabus or summary, the evaluation is possible when you submit the documents including the explanation/summary of the course’s contents which the professor can notice.

** Only courses listed in the issuance will be evaluated.

     personal statement (optional) –refer to Interdisciplinary Major in Artificial Intelligence’s own form (attachment 3)

-The submission of statement is optional but it may be considered during the selection process.

 If the submission of 2 additional documents (Certificate Issuance, A prerequisite course approval form) is not completed, It will be considered as a lack of intent to apply. (Students who fail to submit their application via mySNU will also be regarded as lacking intent to apply.)

 

-The submission deadline for additional documents is April 4, 2025 (Friday), 6:00 PM (KST).

-Documents must be submitted via email to sjh93@snu.ac.kr.

*The email subject must include "[Application for AI Interdisciplinary Major] Department, Student ID, Name," and applicants must attach all required and optional documents.

 

E.     Graduation requirements include a total of 39 credits from designated courses (11 core credits and 28 elective credits, with at least 6 required elective credits).

Participation in a research lab internship associated with the interdisciplinary major can substitute for a graduation thesis if a report is submitted.

G.    Notice

Since the second semester of 2020, improvements to the interdisciplinary major system have limited the number of interdisciplinary major applications to a maximum of three per semester and the total number of interdisciplinary majors a student can pursue to six. Please review these restrictions before applying.

The total number of interdisciplinary majors a student can complete is limited to six. The maximum number of applications for interdisciplinary majors per semester is three. Students who have already completed six interdisciplinary majors as of the application date are not eligible to apply. Students with five interdisciplinary majors can apply for one additional major. Students with four interdisciplinary majors can apply for two more. Students with three or fewer interdisciplinary majors can apply for up to three additional majors.

 Students interested in pursuing interdisciplinary majors are encouraged to consult with the Major Design Support Center in the Academic Affairs Office for assistance with major design support (refer to Attachment 4).
