Topic: Safe AI

Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an essential technological force of innovation, finding applications not only in healthcare but across nearly all sectors. However, alongside its positive impacts, AI also has significant risks, which can lead to irreversible transformations. Thus, it is essential to consider potential risks from the outset. Some of these risks cannot be anticipated or addressed at the individual or organizational level. To tackle these issues, many countries are establishing AI Safety Institutes (AISI) to address safety concerns at national and societal levels. This seminar will introduce the role of South Korea's AI Safety Institute, particularly in light of the recent DeepSeek boom originating in China, and will discuss the safety elements to consider in AI-driven innovations.
