Abstract:
Medical artificial intelligence (AI) technology is poised to bring revolutionary changes to the way we manage healthcare in the future. It has achieved significant advancements in various fields, ranging from medical imaging and biosignal analysis to drug development. This lecture will explore the cutting edge of medical AI technology, examining how it has reached commercialization across different areas, including medical imaging and biosignal diagnostics, drug development, and personalized cancer diagnosis based on genetic and pathological imaging. The core of these advancements lies in AI’s principle of information representation, which is not confined to a specific domain but is based on a common processing capability applicable to various fields.
This lecture will delve deeply into this principle and forecast the future trajectory of AI technology. While general AI technology and medical AI technology are applied in different domains, the fundamental AI technologies underlying them share the same principles. For example, AI models such as ChatGPT, when trained on various medical data including medical imaging, biosignals, genetic information, proteins, and pharmaceuticals, can provide optimized AI solutions tailored to these domains. Therefore, understanding the latest developments in general AI technology is crucial to comprehending the present and future of medical AI. By explaining how these cutting-edge AI technologies have been applied and advanced in the medical field, this lecture aims to help the audience explore fundamental directions and gain insights into how AI can be utilized in their respective domains, including healthcare.
