[Notice] Application for the 2025 Geneva International Human Rights Organization Exploration Program
The Seoul National University (SNU) Human Rights Center aims to foster global talent with a strong awareness of human rights and creative problem-solving abilities. To this end, we are selecting students interested in international human rights to participate in the 56th UN Human Rights Council session, the review of national reports by the UN Human Rights Committee, and meetings with human rights treaty body members and officials from the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Through this program, participants will gain firsthand experience of international efforts to address human rights issues, the process of establishing and enforcing international human rights norms, and engage in discussions with experts in the field, thereby deepening their understanding of international human rights.
Program Details
- Program Duration: June 23 (Mon) – July 3 (Thu), 2025 (10 nights, 11 days)
- Pre-Departure Training: Selected participants must attend three mandatory pre-departure training sessions in May–June (schedule to be announced).
- Number of Participants: 10 undergraduate students from SNU (students graduating in August 2025 are not eligible).
Participation Costs & Support
- Participant’s Expenses: Round-trip airfare (Incheon-Geneva) and personal expenses during free time (e.g., meals).
- Covered by SNU Human Rights Center: Accommodation in Geneva (shared twin rooms), travel insurance, and program fees.
- Financial Aid: Students who are recipients of basic livelihood security, lower-income support, or fall under the Korea Student Aid Foundation (KOSAF) income level 0–1 may receive support for airfare and local expenses (proof required; see attached document for details).
Eligibility
- Enrolled undergraduate students at SNU (including those on leave of absence; August 2025 graduates are not eligible).
- Must be proficient in English communication.
- Must have no restrictions on international travel.
- Must be able to attend all pre-departure sessions and the full program schedule in Geneva.
Selection Criteria
Participants will be selected based on their understanding and interest in international human rights, assessed through:
- Personal statement
- Activity plan
- Interview evaluation

- Interview Candidates Announcement: March 14 (Fri), 2025
- Interview Date: March 21 (Fri), 2025

- Personal statement & activity plan (designated form attached)
- Enrollment certificate (as of Fall 2024; students on leave must submit a certificate of leave)
- Transcript (as of Fall 2024; can be downloaded from MySNU portal)
- Parental consent form (original copy) – Required only for students under 19 years old (born after March 7, 2005)
- Proof of financial need (if applicable) – Documents for basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups, or KOSAF income level 0–1 students
(No need to submit an official English test score)
Important Notes
- Selected students must book their flight by April 11 (Fri), 2025.
- The Human Rights Center is not responsible for issues arising from failure to read the program details. If you have any questions, please contact us before applying.
- Participants must submit a final report by July 18 (Fri), 2025, upon return (details to be provided later).
