[College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering] STAR Lecture: 'Dispersal of plants and fungi by raindrops' (Prof. Arezki Boudaoud, Ecole Polytechnique)
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University will host a STAR Lecture on January 22, 2025 (Wednesday).
[Lecture Details]
- Topic: Dispersal of plants and fungi by raindrops
- Speaker: Prof. Arezki Boudaoud (Ecole Polytechnique, France)
- Date & Time: Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 5:00 PM

Prof. Arezki Boudaoud is a researcher specializing in the morphogenesis and functions of living organisms from a physical perspective. Currently affiliated with the Department of Mechanics and Biology at École Polytechnique, he leads a team integrating physics, mechanics, and molecular biology to study plant morphogenesis.
Plants and fungi have developed a unique method of dispersing their offspring using raindrops. In this lecture, Prof. Boudaoud will explore the dispersal process via "splash cups" from both fluid dynamics and ecological perspectives, discussing the efficiency and significance of this fascinating mechanism.
We kindly invite you to join us for this engaging lecture.
Thank you.
