Jan 25, 2025

Hello,

The Seoul National University College of Social Sciences is hosting the discussion forum, "Unfinished December: Reading Korea Through ( )," and is seeking presenters to join the event.

This forum will explore key moments such as the late-night proclamation of martial law on December 3, the National Assembly's resolution demanding the termination of martial law, the gatherings at Yeouido and Gwanghwamun, the initial failure and subsequent passing of the presidential impeachment motion, the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial, and the voices and actions of diverse social groups, including students. These events will be examined from the perspective of undergraduate students majoring in social sciences.

While numerous forums and discussions have already taken place regarding the proclamation of martial law, this event stems from the recognition that deeper conversations are still needed at the undergraduate level. It aims to share today’s young generation’s diagnosis and perspectives on the situation, and to reflect on the meanings of democracy and the constitution.

The event includes presentations by undergraduate students from various social science disciplines, small group discussions centered on three themes, a general discussion, and a lecture on the constitution and the recent events.

We are now recruiting presenters for 10-minute presentations related to the event’s theme! Presenters are asked to prepare their talks from the perspective of their respective social science fields (including associations or clubs they belong to) and suggest discussion topics for small group sessions. A preparation stipend of approximately 100,000 KRW will be provided.

If you are interested in presenting, please submit your application via the Google Form linked above by Friday, January 10.

The event will take place on Saturday, January 25, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Further details and the timeline will be provided to the selected presenters.

Thank you!
