The Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies is recruiting undergraduate and graduate students of Seoul National University to serve as docents (volunteers for exhibition explanation and guidance). Selected docents will actively participate in guiding visitors and maintaining the exhibition hall from January 21, 2025 (Opening Ceremony) to August 31, 2025.
About Kyujanggak
Kyujanggak was established as a royal library during the reign of King Jeongjo in the late Joseon Dynasty and later expanded its role as an educational and research institution. Today, the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies is one of Korea’s premier research institutes, housing the nation’s largest collection of documentary heritage and contributing to promoting Korean Studies on the global stage.

Volunteer Role

Responsibilities:
- Provide guided tours in Korean and/or English (training and scripts will be provided).
- Maintain order and assist in the operation of the exhibition hall.
- Support exhibition improvements and reorganizations.

Volunteer Period:
- January 21, 2025 (Tuesday) – August 31, 2025 (Sunday)
- Activities take place once a week (Monday to Friday), either in the morning or afternoon.
- Please indicate all available time slots in the “Preferred Activity Times” section of the application form. Final schedules will be arranged post-selection, based on indicated preferences.
- Attendance at the opening ceremony on January 21 (Tuesday) is encouraged.

Eligibility:
- Current students of Seoul National University (any major).
- Interest in exhibition guidance and Korean Studies.
- 20 students will be selected.
- Priority will be given to English-speaking applicants and those available during less popular time slots.

Selection Steps:
- Submit your application by email. Results of the document review will be individually notified.
- Attend an in-person interview during the second week of January to finalize the selection.
- Participate in an on-site orientation at Kyujanggak during the third week of January (attendance is required to complete pre-training for guiding visitors).
※ Dates for selection and training are subject to change based on internal circumstances.
