Hosted by the Sustainability Lab (S-Lab) of Sungkonghoe University, in collaboration with the Institute of Social Sciences at Sogang University, the Institute for Peace and Unification Studies at Seoul National University, and the East Asia Institute of Sungkonghoe University, the third part of this webinar series will take place on November 20 (Wed), November 22 (Fri), and December 4 (Wed), 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM (KST) via Zoom.
The theme of Part 3, "Corporations and Peace," explores the academic and practical discourse surrounding the idea of corporations contributing to building a peaceful society through their core activities, beyond traditional corporate social responsibility (CSR). Peace is considered a prerequisite for sustainable business operations, while corporate activities can be pivotal drivers of peacebuilding.
Since the adoption of Business for Peace (B4P) by the UN Global Compact in 2013, international discussions on this topic have flourished. However, in Korea, research has been limited to two studies published in 2016 and 2019. With growing interest in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices, this webinar aims to shed light on the importance of peace as a sustainability issue for businesses, particularly in the context of the Korean Peninsula’s prolonged armistice.
