The Seoul National University Modern Korean Studies Open Seminar titled "Korea's Modernity and Development History: The Aporia of the Formation of Modernity and Development in Korea"

The Modern Korean Studies Research Project under the Research Project Team for Korea's Modernity and Development History is hosting a series of eight consecutive lectures titled "The Aporia of Korea's Modernity and Development." The third lecture will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 8:00 PM, and will feature Cho Soo-ryong from the National Institute of Korean History.

The topic for this lecture is "From National Self-Reliance Economy to ‘Juche’: The Impact of the Korean War and Foreign Relations on the Formation of North Korea’s 'Juche' Development Strategy." This lecture will explore the transition in North Korea’s economic strategy towards self-reliance, influenced by historical events such as the Korean War and external relations.
