New Malden, a suburb of London, is home to the largest Korean community in both the UK and Europe, with an estimated 20,000 South Korean immigrants and about 800 North Korean immigrants. This forum will explore how South and North Korean immigrants interact in this shared living space, providing insights into future interactions on the Korean Peninsula when full-scale exchanges between South and North Koreans take place. In particular, the forum will focus on the challenges faced by the New Malden Korean School in fostering a new generation while overcoming division, and the key considerations for education in this unique setting. The speaker will also share specific examples from her experiences as both an observer and a participant in this process.
We warmly invite those interested to join us.
