Invitation
As the golden autumn approaches, the Central Library is delighted to host the exhibition, "As High and Steadfast as a Mountain: Memorial Exhibition on the Eminent Korean Linguist, Lee Sung-nyong," celebrating the academic achievements of Gwanak and the remarkable tradition of the donated collections of Seoul National University researchers, namely, the individual collections. This exhibition marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Simak Collection and is dedicated to highlighting the legacy of the great Korean linguist, Lee Sung-nyong, and showcasing the essence of the Simak Collection.
To share the extensive and valuable Simak collection, comprising 9,065 items, with the public, a special exhibition space has been prepared. The exhibition will feature approximately 120 selected items, including rare books, manuscripts, maps, paintings and calligraphies, and w ooden tablets, with special attention given to the "Myobeop Yeonhwagyeong" (Saddharmapundarika Sutra, The Lotus Sutra, Korean Translation), which is applying for national treasure designation this year. Additionally, a virtual interview video created in collaboration with student clubs using AI technology will be presented for the first time, and the opening ceremony will include a beautiful musical performance.
We cordially invite you to this exhibition, which modernly introduces the academic transitions of the past to today's generation. Your presence will greatly honor the event.
