[Institute for Culture and Arts] International Symposium, Performance, and Exhibition "Ecological Futures"

We are delighted to announce the "Ecological Futures" event, an international symposium, performance, and exhibition, which will be held from July 19th to 21st, 2024, at the Power Plant of Seoul National University. This event is part of the public discourse program by rearc. institute based in Copenhagen. Curated by Taeyoon Choi, in collaboration with Unmake Lab, Mina Kim, and Kazakhstan-based Artcom Platform, "Ecological Futures" will explore the multi-faceted relationships between urban spaces, technology, and the environment.

Event Highlights:

  • July 19:
    • "Reading Places" workshop by Artcom Platform.
    • Performances and party featuring Mina Kim, Y2K92 + Taeyoon Choi, and Re#sister Korea (Mina Kim, Sujin Kim, Younwon Sohn, Jisoo Park, Soo-hyun Moon, LuNa).
  • July 20:
    • Symposium with presentations and discussions by the collaborative teams.
  • July 21:
    • "Chasing Data Clouds" workshop by Unmake Lab.
    • "Making Instruments from Electronic Waste" workshop by Mina Kim.

  • July 19 (Fri), 7-9 PM - Performance
    • Free admission for 60 Seoul National University students and staff (first-come, first-served).
    • Featuring: Mina Kim, Y2K92 + Taeyoon Choi, Re#sister Korea (Mina Kim, Sujin Kim, Younwon Sohn, Jisoo Park, Soo-hyun Moon, LuNa).
  • July 20 (Sat), 1-6 PM - Symposium
    • Free admission for 60 Seoul National University students and staff (first-come, first-served).
    • Presentations:
      • Taeyoon Choi / Green Utopia
      • Unmake Lab / Predictions Without Future
      • Artcom Platform / Taking Care of Balkhash
      • Mina Kim / Sensing the Contamination of Digital Technology
    • (Presentations by Taeyoon Choi, Unmake Lab, and Mina Kim will be in Korean. Artcom Platform will present in English with Korean subtitles. Q&A will be conducted with Korean-English consecutive interpretation.)
