Professor Inah Lee, who participated in the exhibition, graduated from the Department of Psychology at Seoul National University and earned his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Utah. He has served as a researcher at the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy at Texas Medical College in Houston and the Center for Brain and Memory at Boston University, as well as a professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Iowa. He is currently a professor in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the College of Natural Sciences, Seoul National University. He serves as an operating committee member at the AI Research Institute of Seoul National University. His primary research focuses on the role of the hippocampus in learning and memory. He utilizes neurophysiological methods and virtual reality behavioral experiments to explore the mechanisms of hippocampal learning. In recognition of his excellent research and contributions to the Korean neuroscience community, he received the Jang Jin Academic Award from the Korean Society for Brain and Neural Sciences in 2022.
What are the similarities and differences between artificial intelligence in computers and natural intelligence in the brain? In the exhibition preface, Professor Lee expressed his hope that this exhibition will help dispel vague fears about AI technology and serve as a guide to realizing the superiority of natural intelligence in the brain.
Through the books introduced in this exhibition, we hope you will understand the differences in learning methods between machines and the brain, and further discover the excellence of the brain and natural intelligence.
Seoul National University Central Library is promoting the "Seoul National University Knowledge-based Culture and Arts Sharing" project to enhance its role as a complex cultural space where knowledge, information, and artistic content coexist, and to encourage library use. This exhibition is part of the "Online Thematic Book Exhibition" event, which is part of this project.
