Seoul National University Central Library to host <University Library Innovation Conference> in commemoration of winning the ALA International Innovation Award
□ Seoul National University Central Library (Director Jang Deok-jin), which won the ALA International Innovation Award (ALA 2023 Presidential Citation for Innovative International Library Projects) for the first time in South Korea in June, will hold a <University Library Innovation Conference> targeting university libraries nationwide to promote the award and explore innovative strategies for university transformation using data.

□ The conference, which will be held on July 6 at the Central Library Gwanjeong Building Yang Du-seok Hall of Seoul National University, will feature a presentation on "The Birth of LikeSNU" by Director Jang Deok-jin, followed by in-depth discussions on the utilization of big data by data experts and practical implementation challenges regarding data policies and execution by Seoul National University's data-related departments.
□ Despite the short registration period, more than 50 library officials from universities nationwide have applied for the conference, demonstrating the enthusiasm of universities seeking new services utilizing big data. In response, Seoul National University Central Library plans to set up a separate technology-sharing booth at the event to provide practical assistance by sharing project implementation know-how and expertise in big data technology.

The LikeSNU system is a service that analyzes and utilizes knowledge big data (such as book borrowing history, research papers, academic records, lectures, and course syllabi) of Seoul National University members to provide various recommendations and guidance, enabling members to learn and conduct research in a manner that is in line with Seoul National University's values and practices. Currently in its second year of operation in 2023, the system aims to contribute to Seoul National University's social contribution and enhance international research productivity by developing functionalities that can be used by the general public and researchers worldwide.
