○ Abstract: The talk addresses the origin of the ethical issues of artificial intelligence (AI) in the current context. I argue that AI, compared to previous technologies, is unique in its deep intertwinement with human institutions related to decision-making. The talk surveys a set of practical ethical problems in China today, and seeks to offer fresh insights regarding to the possible governance responses to the challenges posed by the AI technology.
