SNU Museum of Art (MoA) Invites is the serial project program that illuminates values of art works and artists who play pivotal roles in the stream of Modern and Contemporary Korean Art. The first half of 2014 MoA’s artist Jung Hee Hong , she shaped her own art world through constantly studying color for fifty years not belonging to any particular movement or a group. Hong’s work of remarkable materiality of canvas and paint itself radiates an evident existence, and at the same time, it carries the traces of self-actions of her work progress. Also, her painting is the place where overflowing intense colors and constructive art volition coexists. Presenting Hong's major work of Off Self series that she is constantly developing from early 1990s and her most recent works in this exhibition will be an opportunity to look at the journey of artist’s creation pursuing ‘an independent painting with the two integrated concepts of generative cause and the order that governs.’
